Newborn Sessions During the Coronavirus

The coronavirus has largely brought our regular lives to a standstill. Here in Oregon, we are all still under the Stay Home Executive Order, so what about newborn sessions during the coronavirus?

My kids are home from school, and we are doing our best to assemble a daily routine that includes working from home, online school, lots of outside exercise, and tons of cooking. I’m sure you can relate! We’re all pretty much in the same COVID-19 boat. #aparttogether

My studio has been closed since late March now. Part of me has grown to like our simple routine at home, but an even bigger part of me misses working and photographing at the studio very, very much.

Even though I’ve had to close the studio, the babies are still being born!

I wanted to do something special for my newborn clients who were on my books for March, April, and May. After some thought, I decided to offer a front porch, socially distanced, newborn session to them. I’ve had many take me up on it. Here’s a little peek of the images we’ve made together! My big 70-200mm lens came in clutch for these!

They just make me happy looking at them, and I hope they do the same for you! We all want Some Good News right now, and families growing and welcoming babies home is good news.

It was so much fun to celebrate the birth of these babies with photos. This modified version of the newborn session will tide them over until I’m able to reopen again. Hopefully, it will be soon!

I know these sessions aren’t a replacement for the kind of artwork that I usually offer, nor are they the kind of newborn photographs that my clients signed up for. Boy, I sure didn’t see this coming, and I spent much of March and April not knowing what to do. But in times of crisis, you have to get creative and pivot a bit.

I can’t wait to see these babies and others in the studio in the coming months!

I am booking newborns due in August, September, and October now. I hope you’ll be in touch soon!
