What does the Fox say?!  We have Poush cousins to thank for introducing this song to our family.  Amity is obsessed!!  Well, actually, let’s be real.  Greg is obsessed and he made sure that Amity became so too.  One Saturday they were running errands together and I guess they listened to the song on repeat.  Amity memorized the words and it is the most adorable performance to watch.  Here she is dancing and singing her heart out: “The secret of the Fox…”

The girls’ birth-mom, Kellie, came down to celebrate their birthdays and we went out for ice cream.  It is always a very special time to be with her; she is beautiful inside and out.  Verity was showing her all her tricks.

Yes, this is Amity giving her night light/alarm clock and hug and kiss goodnight.  It is a puzzling but adorable part of the tucking in process.  She turns off her lamp, turns on her ipod music, turns on her nightlight and gives it a hug and kiss, then we are responsible for putting it back on the shelf, she then has me say “Timmmmberrr” as she flops back into bed, we cover her up, and lastly (we always hope) I sing a song (Hush Little Baby) and then Greg has to sing a song.  And if we try to breeze over any of those crucial steps?  Forget about it.

Our little zoner.  This was after daycare and we were getting dinner ready.  The girls were watching a show.  Usually her posture is SO perfectly straight so I love that I caught this moment of her relaxed and slumped over and very glassy eyed!

She’s THREE!  Our big girl is three.  Oh, where has the time gone?  She is really crossing that line from toddler to little kid.  She’s been waiting all summer and fall to climb this rock wall at our gym.  You have to be 3 years old to do so.  After a good long nap (praise God she still is napping!!) Greg got home a little early and we took her to climb the rock wall.  Talk about excited.  So fun to see her get to do it, and she loved it.  At first she could only go a couple feet off the ground but eventually she got the hang of it and went up maybe 6-7 feet.  Way to go girl!

I had started to put a few decorations out for their birthday party and decided to take this photo.  I’m so glad I did now, too.  You see the next day Verity broke out in a horrible rash accompanied by a fever.  It turns out she had a reaction to the MMR vaccine.  The doctor had warned me that one of the side effects can be a rash and/or fever 6-12 days after the vaccine.  Sure enough it was day 8 that she broke out.  She was so miserable, and it was awful.  It lasted for 5 days and she completely missed her party.  She slept through gifts and cake.  I still need to have a make-up cake for her.  I feel so bad she missed her first party.  What can you do?

Halloween!  What a crazy night this was.  We picked the girls up from daycare a little bit early because we had gotten a call saying Verity was running a fever.  At this point I knew she had the rash but the temp was a new development.  We picked her up and I saw that the rash was clearly worse.  We had plans to pick my sister up at PDX at 7:30pm so we had the car packed and were headed up to Portland to eat out, do some trick-or-treating, and then pick up Gail.  Well, as we were driving I was on the phone with the doctors office because I was concerned maybe she was having an allergic reaction to the antibiotics she was on for an ear infection rather than it being a reaction to the MMR.  The nurse said we really needed to bring her in.  Tonight.  Sooo, we turned back around to Salem at Woodburn getting there Just in time for the last minute appointment.  The doctor said it did Not look like the type of rash they get from antibiotics and she was pretty certain it was the MMR.  We were sent back on our way.  We headed back north on I-5, grabbed a quick dinner and ate in the car, pulled off into a neighborhood near Laurelhurst park in Portland, got the girls in their costumes and did some trick-or-treating.  This was the sweet part.  Things slowed down and we were able to breathe and enjoy.  The night was the perfect temperature, Amity was so happy to be trick-or-treating, Verity was sullen but okay.  It was all so quintessential.  Amity said, “Happy Halloween!” and “Trick-or-Treat!” to everyone.  Not shy at all.  My little purple dragons were perfect.
