Verity was napping and while Amity and I were having some quality time in her room playing Woodkins (sort of like paper dolls except, well, wood). I found this little set at Goodwill awhile back and she still really likes coming back to this game. It came with a few fabric pieces, and I added some more from my stash.

Verity woke up a little before Amity so I had a little quality time with her too! She thought it was pretty hilarious when I put that bracelet on top of her head. Her short little arms couldn’t reach up and grab it off so it would slide down and I put it back up over and over…you know how that goes with kids. A little game like that doesn’t get old until like the 100th time (if you’re lucky).

Amity has a little copycat. Verity likes to think she can color too. We’ve been having “quiet playtime” after bath lately, and the two favorite activities are coloring or playing with blocks ([buh-Locks], as Amity is playing with her /L/ sound). Amity is wearing one of her favorite jammies. My dad got them these t-shirts at the Crater Lake souvenir shop this summer (Amity has procured both) and when they are available and clean to wear for bed she is always just ecstatic.

I love how she has a pencil in each fist and is holding one of them in the wrong direction. She’s figuring it all out.

We had gone on an errand to Costco earlier this morning and passed these fallen leaves at Bush Park on our way. They were so pretty, so I brought the girls back later this afternoon to take some pictures; then we played at the playground. We even made some new friends, a great end to the day especially since it was pretty hairy with Ver Bear. This is a classic Amity expression.

Today was my first full day wearing the Invisalign so my teeth and head were aching. On top of that Verity was just a mess. She’s been getting over a stomach bug verrrry slowly, and you know how after a kid is sick they are so off their schedule! That is where we are at right now. Schedule? What schedule? There was no morning nap, though boy did I try. She finally went to sleep around 11 and woke up about 15 min after Amity went down…so no break for me. She’s been so irritable! She was happy here at the park though. Especially in the swing. Ooo, she would fuss if I tried to take her out. So I just sat and swung her while Amity ran around with another little gal. I’m so glad she had a friend to play with because it kept her busy and I was able to just stand and swing Ver the whole time. This photo is so sweet for many reasons. Namely, I asked Amity, “Now let’s take a picture of you with your sister.” And this is what she did! Stooped next to her and put her arm around her and hand on her shoulder. [Sigh.] She is starting to show signs of being protective of Ver. Earlier today I was frustrated with Ver (during the time I was trying to get her to take a morning nap) and Amity rushed into Verity’s room, “Mommy are you happy or mad? Are you mad at Verity? She’s sorry. Don’t be mad at her!” I couldn’t believe how well my almost 3 year old assessed the situation. And I couldn’t believe that she took Verity’s side. Typically Amity is not the doting big sis. I was so proud of her.
