What to Wear for Maternity Photos

Wondering what to wear for maternity photos?

Pregnancy is a different journey for every mom. From morning sickness to swollen ankles, our bodies each take a different path. However, I find that everyone shares in the wonder of the tiny human forming that baby bump. I love love love to capture that first, intimate connection between parents and their baby.

Usually, I suggest that your maternity session takes place somewhere between 34 and 36 weeks pregnant. As a bonus, parents who book a newborn session receive a complimentary maternity session!

When to Book

For what to wear for maternity photos, I encourage a soft, feminine, neutral palette for highlighting the start of the show: that adorable baby bump! Busy prints can distract from your figure’s shape and form.

What to Wear

When keeping with this soft palette, your maternity photos will blend seamlessly with your upcoming newborn photos – looking especially beautiful when laid out in an album together.

Naturally, your growing figure could also mean that you don’t have clothes in your closet you’re entirely sure about but have no fear, I got you, mama! I have the studio stocked with an outstanding wardrobe for you to choose from. You can find all of these items below in my studio wardrobe.

Keeping it simple doesn’t mean going outside your comfort zone or wearing clothes that aren’t you. It’s important that you feel comfortable and beautiful during your session, so you should choose clothes that match your personality and empower you. You are always free to bring your own clothing!

Whether you have a selection of camera-ready outfits or you’d like to take full advantage of my amazing options, I will make sure you look and feel like the gorgeous mom-to-be and capture this moment for you to enjoy years to come.

I’m a short drive away from Portland, and I encourage you to make a day trip of it!  Salem is nestled in the heart of Willamette Valley, and we have farmers markets, adorable shops and art boutiques, and of course, beautiful river views.  Celebrate this special time in your life because, in a few weeks, you’re going to be a new family!

Let’s do this, mama!
