Today is a new day. I spent some time reading up on baby sleep last night to try and glean some new ideas to try today. And I got some. #1 is an earlier bedtime, #2 is shorter awake times, and #3 let go of the schedule temporarily and watch baby for sleep cues. I’m pretty sure she has a major sleep deficit right now. We put her to bed at 6:15pm last night and she went right to sleep. She woke up at 6:15, napped from 7-8, 9-10, and down again at 12:30 and she’s still going! So far it’s been working! I know it seems trivial, or maybe weird? But this all makes me Very Happy.
I took this photo of my well rested baby this morning. She was being so stinkin’ cute. I think this one might be getting framed…

That sounds pretty much exactly what we had to do with Walt. I literally had to write down (spreadsheets!) anytime he woke up, and make sure that I was very disciplined in laying him down at specific intervals. If I waited for sleep cues, it was too late for us. It did work, and made napping way easier – and for a happier baby, and easier bedtime. We still struggle with night times. For one week – he will wake up once to eat, and then the next he is up every 2 to hours. This frustrates me to no end because HELLO! he is my third child, shouldn’t I have this sleeping thing down by now?
Hope it gets better soon!
