Your new baby practically fits in the palms of your hands. They have adorable tiny toes, back wrinkles, full rosy cheeks, and little expressions that make them all their own.
One minute they’re swimming in that adorable NB size sleeper you picked out, and the next thing you know, they’re lumbering around with their sippy cup.
And you are dreaming of the days when you could snuggle their whole little newborn body on your chest.
All that’s left are the photographs. It’s hard to believe, but your Portland newborn photography becomes even MORE valuable over time.
Let’s make sure those photos are timeless, authentic, and natural.
No props. No gimmicks. Just your perfect baby.
You’re probably spending a LOT of time dreaming of your new baby’s arrival. Who’s eyes will they have? Will they have a full head of hair like dad did?
I can for sure tell you, mom, to mom, when your baby arrives, they are the cutest thing you’ve ever seen in your life.

"Katie is amazing! She is so sweet, talented, and professional. My husband and I thought we could do newborn photos ourselves, but we wouldn't have been able to even scratch the surface compared to what she was able to achieve. Her ability to care for and position our newborn was top notch and she also had a beautiful wardrobe and props for us to choose from for our session. Although the price is somewhat high, it is totally worth it! We will cherish these photos for a lifetime!"

We loved both our maternity and newborn photos! Katie always responded to us promptly and was a joy to work with. I am pretty camera shy and feel awkward being photographed and Katie helped me pose and feel comfortable in front of the camera. She also did a great job calming our newborn and was very accommodating to our needs throughout the photoshoot. If you’re looking to capture the precious features of your little one Katie is who you want.

If you’ve ever shopped for art of any kind before, you know prices are all over the map… and that’s certainly true with photography as well. And like with other art, those prices aren’t easily compared - it’s not apples to apples.
My work may not be the least expensive in the area, but it's certainly one of the best values. My unique process ensures you'll get exactly what you want, and end up with beautiful images to print and enjoy for years to come.
Digital file packages begin at $950 for 25 images.

Get all of my best tips and advice for what to wear at your newborn session. I will help you take the guesswork out of what to wear!
I get it, mama. Life with a newborn is tough, so you want to know exactly what to expect with your newborn session. A question I'm commonly asked is, “how long is the newborn session?”
The short answer is somewhere between one to three hours.
If you are anything like I was, you really want a photo of your new baby with their older sibling(s).
Your older child might fall in the 1-3 year-old-range, and this has you worried. And rightly so – ha!

The ideal time for newborn photos is within the first two weeks after birth, when babies are still very sleepy and naturally curl into those cozy poses. That said, my relaxed, baby-led style means I can comfortably photograph babies up to about eight weeks old. Every stage has its own kind of sweetness, and we’ll create beautiful images no matter what.
I keep things simple, natural, and timeless. Rather than using props or themed setups, I focus on your baby—their tiny features, natural movements, and connection with your family. I provide all the soft knits, wraps, and blankets you see in my work, each carefully chosen to complement your baby and create that organic, classic look.
That’s completely okay. I have years of experience with newborns and endless patience. We’ll take our time, follow your baby’s lead, and pause for feeding or snuggles whenever needed. Most babies will drift off to sleep eventually, but even if they stay awake, those alert, expressive images are often some of my favorites.
All newborn sessions take place in my cozy studio in Salem, Oregon—just 47 miles south of downtown Portland. The studio is designed with new parents in mind: warm, quiet, and fully stocked with everything we’ll need for your session, including wraps, blankets, diapers, and refreshments.
Not at all. While the early days do have that tiny, sleepy look, older newborns photograph beautifully, too. Around four to six weeks, babies start making eye contact, stretching out, and showing a bit more personality—which makes for wonderfully expressive images.
Most newborn sessions last about two hours, but can go up to three. This allows plenty of time for feeding, changing, and comforting your baby without any sense of rush. My goal is for the experience to feel calm and enjoyable for everyone.
You don’t need to bring much. I provide everything we’ll need for your baby, including wraps, knits, and blankets. Just bring the basics—extra diapers, wipes, a pacifier, and a bottle if you’re bottle-feeding. For parents and siblings, I recommend wearing something simple and neutral. I also have a wardrobe available for moms and babies if you’d like to take the guesswork out of what to wear.
That’s very common! When you book, we’ll reserve your due date as a placeholder on my calendar. Once your baby arrives, you’ll simply reach out, and we’ll confirm your session date within those first couple of weeks. I keep flexibility in my schedule for this reason, so you’ll always have a spot.
It’s best to book while you’re still pregnant—ideally in your second trimester—to ensure availability around your due date. Once your baby arrives, we’ll finalize the exact session date. If your little one is already here, please still reach out. I often have a few openings reserved just for last-minute newborns.
Absolutely. I always encourage including parents and siblings—it’s such a special time for the whole family. These images tell the full story of welcoming your new baby and the love that surrounds them. We’ll start with family and sibling photos while everyone is fresh, then focus on your baby for the remainder of the session.
Go ahead and fill out the inquiry form on my website. From there, I’ll send you all the session details, answer your questions, and walk you through the booking process. Once you’ve submitted your session fee and signed the agreement, your due date will be reserved on my calendar.
Yes! Many families choose to book the Maternity + Newborn Bundle, which includes both sessions at a special rate. It’s the perfect way to document your story from bump to baby and ensures you’ll have matching, timeless images that tell the full beginning of your baby’s story.
You’ll receive your proofing gallery about two weeks after your session. From there, you’ll choose your favorite images during a one-day online ordering appointment. Once your selections are finalized, your fully retouched images will be delivered in a private online gallery where you can download, share, and order prints or albums.
