Babies are so happy, from showing off those gummy smiles to their new sitting skills.
They think peek-a-boo is hilarious.
And don't get me started on the wrist, ankle, and thigh rolls.
It all Must be photographed!
The baby photos I deliver are soft, sweet, and timeless pieces of art that you will cherish for a lifetime.
Babies grow and change the fastest during their first year. We are talking rapid growth! I’m here to help capture each milestone, so that nothing is forgotten.
Every baby and family is different, however; I like to recommend after the maternity and newborn photos, a three-month-old session when they’ve put on a little chub (you won’t believe the change between this session and the newborn session!), followed by a Sitter Session at 6-9 months and, of course, that milestone 1-year session.
"We absolutely love our photos!
Katie is able to capture rare candid moments of our family, which makes the photos uniquely ours. Would highly recommend Arcadian Photography to anyone!"

At this point, baby will show a clear preference for you, even smiling at you in photos. Those gummy first smiles are gems! They've also put on some chub since their newborn session and are holding their head up when practicing tummy time.
Oh, the happy sitter. I'll admit it. This is my favorite session after the newborn. So independent while sitting on their own, yet not as mobile as that lighting fast 1-year-old. This is also a great session to capture that first tooth and baby's crawling skills.
Celebrate baby's first birthday with photos! This is a fast-paced session, especially compared to your newborn session, capturing your little one's personality. Baby is standing and walking and has many opinions on what they'd like to be doing!
Milestone sessions are designed to feel relaxed, natural, and playful from the moment you arrive.
These sessions focus on your baby’s growing personality. The smiles, the curiosity, the tiny expressions that are already changing so quickly.
Parents and siblings are always welcome to join for a few images, but the heart of this session is celebrating your baby exactly as they are in this stage.
The studio is thoughtfully styled with soft, neutral tones so nothing distracts from your baby’s expressions and movement.
You will have access to simple wardrobe pieces and styling guidance to keep everything cohesive and timeless. The goal is images that feel effortless and true to this season of growth.
Katie's photos NEVER disappoint. Happy baby, sleepy baby, or even a cranky baby, she will get the shot or 20 ; ) that once you see, you won't be able to live without! I'm so thankful I found her and will continue to use her talents frequently.

"Ahhhh I'm in LOVE.
Katie you are incredible! The detail - the twinkle in her eyes, the sweet half smiles and knuckle dimples, cute little emerging baby teeth, rambunctious looks, chubby baby feet and soft leg rolls, the pudgy baby toes, the squishable cheeks and delicate baby hands - and how its all wrapped up to perfection in each photo...I just CANNOT deal with the sweetness.
If you ever need a baby photographer check out Arcadian Photography. Her talent and style are unmatched and I promise there will be ZERO regrets."

Many of my sessions take place at my studio in Salem, but I also travel for newborn, baby, and family lifestyle photography sessions that take place in your home.
The great thing about babies is that the magic doesn’t ever go away. Every month is going to bring a new milestone; a new piece of their personality emerges. But, when is the best time frame for portraits?
Babies can be photographed at every age, but there are a few stages I especially love to capture:
3–4 months: They’re still tiny but beginning to show personality and those sweet social smiles. And those cheeks are filling out!
6–8 months (sitter session): My personal favorite: babies sitting up on their own (but not yet crawling). Think chunky thighs, gummy grins, belly laughs.
12–15 months: Whether it’s a first-birthday celebration or those first steps, this age marks the transition into toddlerhood and is so much fun to photograph.
You have options! We can photograph in the studio, outdoors, or in your home - whichever feels most natural for your family. Studio sessions are included with your session fee, while in-home or outdoor sessions add an upgrade fee when booking.
For studio sessions: I suggest booking after your baby’s first nap so they’re fresh and happy.
For outdoor sessions: we’ll aim for 1½-2 hours before sunset (the “golden hour”) to get those soft, glowing images.
Typically about 1 hour, up to 90 minutes max. Babies can get overstimulated, so the goal is a relaxed, playful session that goes at their pace.
Absolutely. While the focus is on your baby, I always encourage including parents (and siblings) for a few portraits. These images tell the full story of how loved your little one is.
I have a beautifully curated wardrobe for babies (newborn through 12 months) that includes soft knits, rompers, dresses, and diaper covers - simple pieces that photograph beautifully. There’s also a wardrobe available for moms to make getting ready a little easier. During your session, we’ll plan for up to three outfit changes for your baby and one outfit for adults and siblings.
My style is clean, simple, timeless, and baby-led. I skip the props and crazy sets and instead focus on your baby’s authentic expressions, the light, and the connection with family. The result? Portraits that feel alive, genuine, and that you’ll still love years from now.
That’s totally okay! I have lots of experience with babies and endless patience. We’ll always follow your baby’s lead, take breaks when needed, and keep the atmosphere calm and low-stress. There are also a few things we plan ahead of time to help avoid fussiness—like scheduling the session after their first nap, bringing a few favorite snacks, and packing a beloved toy to help them feel comfortable and happy.
Because I specialize in these milestone moments and my calendar fills quickly, it’s best to reserve your spot as early as possible - even if you’re not completely sure of the date yet. Booking about six to eight weeks in advance is ideal to ensure we have room on the calendar. Let’s get you on the books!
Go ahead and fill out the inquiry form, and I’ll send you all the session details, talk through your questions, send the contract + session fee link when you’re ready, and we’ll get everything set for your baby’s session.
No worries at all - I completely understand. Just let me know as soon as you can, and we’ll find a new date that works.
