Why I’m Changing the Name of My Business

Big changes on the horizon for this little business of mine.

As many of you know, this month I remarried, and with that came a new last name for myself!

I am now Katie Howard.

I have decided to make my old last name, Anderson, my second middle name until the girls are out of high school and/or college, to make identifying with them through the growing up years easier.

Who else is getting a new name? My business! In the coming month, I will be going through the process of changing the name of my business from Katie Anderson Photography to:

Arcadian Photography

I am so excited about this fresh change. I would be lying if I said it didn’t feel like a scary change. I am worried business will take a hit. The task of changing all of my branding feels daunting. But, it’s time. Sometimes you just have to jump.

So here I am, telling you, making the big announcement, that what used to be Katie Anderson running Katie Anderson Photography will now be Katie Howard running Arcadian Photography!

Arcadian (adj.) idyllically innocent; simple and untroubled by fear or worry

I have chosen this name because I love what it means. I think it perfectly describes the newborn babies that I photograph and the artwork that I create. I constantly strive for simplicity that captures babies inherent innocence and beauty.

Phew. So stick with me while I go through the growing pains of making this big name change! It’s still me, Katie, here doing what I love to do…photographing your sweet, brand new babies, kids, and family.

Speaking of…here are photos from a recent newborn session. Cooper was born with an amazing head of blonde hair! His little face just kills me too.
