Your Baby’s First Photos

If you are in the prepping and nesting stage of pregnancy, you’re probably still trying to figure out how to capture your baby’s first photos.

Sleepless nights and caffeine shots are no match for the curiosity and growth of a newborn, who quickly turns into a rolling, crawling, walking toddler right before your eyes! My goal is to make sure we’ve frozen those early moments in time with beautiful newborn photos so you’ll have help remembering it all.

In anticipation of your baby’s arrival, parents often dream of what their baby will look like, and they can’t imagine forgetting a single detail once the baby arrives. The truth is, though, that for most parents, the sleepless nights quickly turn into long days full of hustle and learning curves, and somewhere in there, you’re trying to find the calm to enjoy your gorgeous baby. 

I will be giving you photos to hold in your hands long after your baby has grown out of the newborn phase so that you can always enjoy your gorgeous newborn baby.

The fresh, soft pink of those cheeks, the sleepy eyes, and the little reflexes that result in stretchy arms and big yawns are beautifully fleeting. They are quickly replaced with the curious gaze of a six-month-old or the grabby hands of a one-year-old, and those moments are magic as well. 

Newborn sessions at Arcadian Photography are more than just portraits; they are the first chapter of a story that unfolds before you for decades.

I like to say that your baby is the star of the show here in my cozy studio in Salem. I skip the gimmicks and trendy props and focus solely on your baby and your new connection as a family. I use a lot of white and neutral colors, which will go well with any decorating aesthetic you have in your home, aren’t distracting, and are timeless. 

As a photographer specializing in newborns, my work is about curating the details of your baby so that you have them forever. Photography skills aside, I’m a patient, practiced, and skilled mom of four! I know how to wait out those wiggles to snag that brief smile when it dances across their pouty lips as they sleep. For the perfect first family portrait, I know how to tuck in those hands and feet right inside yours.

My studio prides itself on making this experience relaxed and memorable for parents, and I’ll have drinks and snacks and an area for older siblings. The studio is clean, neat, and bright…and I’ll admit everything I’d like my home to be all the time!

Contact me when you have your due date to reserve a spot on our calendar. We’ll ideally photograph your baby’s newborn session around a week old. This time can always be adjusted if baby comes early or delays their arrival. I would love to meet you and help create the first chapter of your life as a new family!
